Anwen is an honorary research fellow and teaching fellow at Durham University, teaching on the MSc in Palaeopathology. She has also worked as a freelance osteoarchaeologist since 2005 carrying out a wide variety of commercial projects predominantly for York Osteoarchaeology Ltd, but also Archaeological Services Durham University, and others. She completed a BSc in Archaeology at the University of Bradford (graduating in 1997), followed by an MSc in Human Osteology, Palaeopathology and Funerary Archaeology at the Universities of Sheffield and Bradford in 1998-1999. She obtained her PhD from Durham University in 2005.

Job Description

The membership secretary is responsible for maintaining a record of the BABAO membership, and managing the BABAO mailing list and access to the members’ area of the BABAO webpage. They need to deal with applications from individuals wishing to become new members of BABAO, signing them up to the mailing list and website members’ area, as well as verifying the student status of student members. They also need to address any enquiries existing members relating to their membership, and keep their members’ contact details and occupation/ affiliation details up-to-date. The membership secretary needs to ensure that all members pay their full annual subscription, regularly checking the receipt of payments on bank statements, PayPal statements, and keeping a record of cheques received. They need to provide assistance to members who have difficulty in making their payments, follow up any members who are late in paying, and ensure that only fully paid-up members have access to the mailing list and members’ area of the BABAO website. They also need to verify that any applicants to the BABAO small grants, and people paying the membership fee for the annual conference, are fully paid-up members. The membership secretary prepares reports for BABAO Committee Meetings, for the Annual General Meeting and provides a report for the BABAO Annual Review. The membership secretary is also responsible for managing the BABAO mailing list, dealing with any technical problems with email delivery, and passing on any information from JiscMail pertinent to the use of the mailing list by BABAO members.
