Student Representative (2021‒)
Summer Courts is an AHRC-funded SWWDTP PhD student at the University of Reading in collaboration with Cranfield University and Oxfordshire Museum Services. Her research aims to contextualise the human remains found at Lowbury Hill, Oxfordshire and to provide an updated interpretation of the site.
She previously received her BA in English and History from Royal Holloway, University of London (2017), her MSt in Classical Archaeology from the University of Oxford (2018) and her MSc in Human Osteoarchaeology from the University of Edinburgh (2021). As well as being BABAO Student Representative, Summer is carrying out osteological research on disability in medieval Scotland. In the field, she is part of the Late Antique Jarash project (Jordan) and is undertaking ongoing work on Roman boardgames.
The student representative is responsible for ensuring the interests of BABAO’s student community are represented in our organisation and making their opinions and suggestions known during the committee meetings. The student rep is a port of call for students with questions about our community. Furthermore, the representative administers the Facebook group, which provides a platform of communication between the student members.
