A statement on our next meeting at Teesside University

Dear Members

I hope you are all keeping well during the COVID pandemic. I want to share some important news about our conferences over the next few years.

We have been talking to Teesside over the last few days about the prospects for holding the conference in September this year.

However, Teesside and the BABAO Trustees have agreed that postponing the conference for one year (to 2021) would be the best decision to make at this time. There are so many questions about what will happen over the next few months with COVID and it is so hard to predict whether the conference would be viable, for so many reasons.

Postponing is also better done sooner rather than later.

Postponing it to, say, early next year could be problematic as so many other conferences are in the same situation as ours and are rescheduling. Therefore, it would be best to keep ours in its usual slot.

However, this means that the BABAO conferences at UCLAN, Exeter and UCL would also need to be postponed for one year; this translates into UCLAN 2022, Exeter 2023 and UCL 2024. I have just consulted with all the organisers of these venues and they are happy for this rearrangement.

I know this will come as a disappointment to many of you but we hope you appreciate the rationale behind our decision.

Keep well and safe everybody.

Best wishes

Charlotte
