We are pleased to announce that the 2025 BABAO Research Grants application round is now open!
BABAO offers grants for research projects in biological anthropology (defined as research relating to humans and non-human primates, extinct and extant) and osteoarchaeology (human and non-human). Of them, Research Grants offer the bigger funding and are currently open for application:
- Research in the contract/commercial sector (up to £2,500: £1000 for research costs and £1500 to buy out time from the employer)
- Research in the academic sector (£1,000 for research costs only)
The application deadline is Thursday 1st May 2025, 23:59 (UK time). All paid up members (before 31st January 2025) are eligible to apply. Find out how to apply here.
Please note that the Decolonising and Diversifying Osteology and Biological Anthropology (DDOBA) Grant scheme is now also open for applications. Established in 2021, this initiative supports efforts to decolonise research, learning, and teaching while promoting greater diversity within our field. The DDOBA Grant operates alongside the research grant scheme, with the same funding amount, application process, forms, general eligibility criteria, and deadlines. Both academic and commercial applications are welcome.
