BABAO presents awards to recognise the excellence within our field.

Honorary Lifetime Membership is bestowed upon distinguished individuals to recognise them for their significant contributions to the Association and the greater disciplines of biological anthropology and osteoarchaeology.
BABAO presents an award for mentorship to a member who has inspired and helped a person/persons as a mentor. The awardees are recognized for consistently providing support, guidance and strong direction to undergraduate and graduate students within higher education, and having had a significant impact upon the development of the careers of junior colleagues within higher education, museums, commercial archaeology, and other relevant institutions/organisations.
The BABAO Service Award recognises the dedication and service of individuals who have demonstrated great commitment to the overall goals of BABAO and contributions made to archaeologists, scientists, researchers, students and community.
BABAO, with the generous support of an anonymous donor, has created two awards to recognise excellence in undergraduate and master’s theses. The Don Brothwell award will be given to an undergraduate thesis, and the Holger Schutkowski award to a master’s thesis.
