  • by

Join us on July 29 evening for one of our Outreach Talk series ‘Curating Human Stories: A journey to becoming a curator

This month BABAO is giving the last of our talks on the branches of osteoarchaeology, covering museum work and the role curators have when working with human remains.

Jelena Bekvalac is Curator of Human Osteology at London Museum, and has worked at the museum since 2003, initially as a research osteologist for the three-year Wellcome funded project that established the Centre for Human Bioarchaeology (CHB) and took up the role of curator in 2008. Life as a Curator of Human Osteology is a many and splendid thing, requiring numerous hats for the varied duties the role of a museum curator encompasses. Reflecting on my journey to becoming a Curator of Human Osteology, and what that entails – stewardship, scientific research, public engagement, stories from the past and the privilege of being part of the ongoing story of the individuals curated in the museum.
